Effort values (EVs) are hidden numerical values in the Pokmon video game series that represent the amount of effort a Pokmon has put into developing specific stats. Each stat (HP, Attack, Defense, Special Attack, Special Defense, and Speed) has its own EV, and each EV can range from 0 to 255. The higher the EV in a particular stat, the more that stat will increase when the Pokmon levels up.

EVs are important because they allow players to customize their Pokmon’s stats to better suit their individual needs. For example, a player who wants a Pokmon that is good at attacking might choose to focus on increasing its Attack EV. Conversely, a player who wants a Pokmon that is good at defending might choose to focus on increasing its Defense EV.
